 Maria Marinou was born in Athens, Greece, in 1986.

  Education:

2017-2019: The University of Sheffield – MA Cultural Materials (Distinction)
Taught Masters focusing on archaeological material analysis and cultural materials theory.

2007-2012: Athens School of Fine Arts – BFA/MFA (Distinction) 
Five-year study (10 semesters) with a focus on painting, and specialising in Didactics of History of Art.

2015: National and Kapodistrian University of Athens
Two-month course in Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Management.

2004-2007: Grigoris Kolizeras Drawing and Painting Studio
Intensive three-year study in the fundamentals of academic classical drawing and painting.

2004-2007: Technological Educational Institute of Athens

Three year study on B&W photography

    Project Partnerships


2021-2023: Resident artist with the program “Finds Stories: Addressing Mobility through Object and People Biographies”. This is a collaboration between the Australian Archaeological Institute at Athens, five European research institutions, from Croatia, Greece, Serbia, and the United Kingdom, who were awarded a prestigious Erasmus+ Key Action 2 Research Grant to study mobility in South-East Europe through object biographies.
